St. Peter’s Church, Harold Wood, Men’s Lunch

Along with so much else, St. Peter’s Men’s Lunch has had to cancel all its remaining planned events: April lunch; May outing; and June Summer Special. This is a real sadness but of course, the right and proper thing to do, indeed the only thing to do.

But a bit of Good News! There are lots of recorded talks by previous guest speakers on the St. Peter’s website. Therefore if you have internet access, we invite you to listen to one (or more) of these. Go to:

TfL wants your views on plans to improve the roundabout

The deadline to have your say on Transport for London (TfL)’s proposals for Gallows Corner roundabout falls this Sunday 13th March.

Your local Residents’ Association Councillors are urging everyone to read TfL’s plans and fill out the online consultation.

Please note that Gallows Corner, the A12 and A127 are under the remit of TfL. TfL is held to account by the Mayor of London who is in turn scrutinised by directly elected London Assembly members. The election for both the Mayor and the Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge takes place on Thursday 5th May.

Waste is an expensive business. Our levy to the East London Waste Authority, who dispose of our waste, is £13m per year. Add on the £4m cost of the waste collection service and it equates to around £204 per year per household.

Havering households generate around 96,000 tonnes of waste per year. While some 36% of this is recycled, there is still a large amount which goes into landfill, and with landfill taxes at £82.60 per tonne, there is a hefty cost. B

y working together, the more we can minimise, limit or recycle our waste the more chance we have of reducing this enormous cost.
