Love where you live & litter pick!

It would be great to stop people littering, but that’ll be a tough task. Instead, why not get active and do a little help out, to make a big difference? I’m Mark and I’m an independent volunteer in The London Borough of Havering and I go out litter picking when I can, to keep Harold Wood and Harold Hill clean! I really enjoy it and want to inspire others like you to take part, as not only is it great for the community and cleaning up but the mental health benefits really do show, along with the fact that you’ll be doing daily exercise too on a nice walk in the local area to where you live. For equipment, I suggest visiting MYPLACE in Harold Hill and the friendly staff will help supply you on loan with everything you need, including sacks, litter pick and hi-viz – it’s really that easy! It makes such a big difference and I love to do it and would love to see many more people getting involved! You can log the bags you’ve collected online with CLEANUPUK and either take them home to put out at the kerbside or use a new process to leave them for council collection on the street at the area you litter picked. Thanks for helping keep Havering clean! I hope to see some new faces out and about in the near future.

COMMUNITY LITTER PICK-HOW TO REPORT PDF

Firstly, I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for the time and effort you continue to put into your community litter picks. It really does make a difference, and we really appreciate everything you do to help keep Havering clean.
We have finally managed to put together a step-by-step process for reporting bags after a community litter pick.
The aim is to make sure everyone reports their collections in the same way, which will hopefully make the whole process much smoother for both the groups and our crews collecting the bags.
I have worked on this process with our Street Cleansing teams who collect the waste, so that we have a system that works for everyone. Having one consistent way of reporting will help our crews identify the community litter pick bags more easily and hopefully reduce the risk of other rubbish being added to the bags or the area being used for fly-tipping before our crews arrive.
I have attached the step-by-step instructions and would be really grateful if you could use this process for all future litter picks.
Thank you again for everything you do. We know how much time and effort you all put in, and you really are making a difference in your local communities.
