Harold Wood Station Update

With regard to the completion of Harold Wood Station ticket office and surrounding area, We KNOW it is very frustrating for residents and commuters alike. This is due to Network Rail and TfL. Please do not think that we do not care but we are constantly contacting Network Rail and TfL for a completion date. Our motion to Council in November did get passed and we have chased on this and have been told that the Council has written to the Mayor of London about the unacceptable delays.

However since then, we have been advised that a price and programme for the outstanding works at Harold Wood has now been received from a prospective contractor for the ticket hall refit. This is going through Network Rail relevant internal governance processes, and once the agreement has been signed we will receive a firm target completion date expected to be no later than the end of the year.

In respect of the Public Realm works to the car park, this is dependent on having the new mini cab kiosk fully functional so that the old one can be removed, enabling the construction of the new ramp and plaza. This is waiting for telecoms to fit the kiosk out.

Deconstruction of the old kiosk, and installation of the new ramp, stairs and plaza is scheduled to begin towards the end of June. The council are to a large extent reliant on a number of different organisations and contractors to ensure that the kiosk is ready for occupancy. We do recognise that it looks like nothing is happening but there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that the programme can proceed smoothly and allow for all the requirements for the kiosk to be met.

If you remain unhappy with the delays on this project then if we could ask you all to contact either your MP Julia Lopez (email Julia.lopez.mp@parliament.uk) or your GLA member Keith Prince whose email address is Keith.Prince@london.gov.uk to put pressure on The London Mayor for him in turn to pressurise TfL and Network Rail as this work should now be a priority as we have all suffered enough over many years.
