The caring team at Home Instead Senior Care Romford, Hornchurch and Rainham have kept busy throughout lockdown by launching a range of fundraising and care initiatives, aimed to support the local community and their clients.
Home Instead CAREGivers came to the aid of isolating seniors by helping them discover different technologies. For one 96-year-old client, setting up a video call allowed her to chat to her son and grandchildren, even being able to wish one a happy birthday! This simple gesture brought a huge smile to her face, alongside helping to remind her she was not alone during these uncertain times.
Though staying safe in the comfort of their own homes is important, communication with loved ones is crucial for seniors during a time of social isolation.
The team have also celebrated lockdown Birthdays and more recently World Chocolate Day by hand delivering boxes of chocolates to their clients and CAREGivers. These small tokens of appreciation brought cheer to another day in lockdown.
CAREGivers and their friends and families have been helping to raise funds and collect donations of food and toiletries for the local Havering Volunteer Centre. The centre provides food parcels for vulnerable people and those in need, as well as providing amazing volunteering opportunities. The volunteers at the centre have worked hard to provide vital aid to those in need during the ongoing pandemic, so the team at Home Instead wanted to thank the centre for all their help within the local community.
Ajay Agrawal, owner of Home Instead Romford, comments: “We are so proud of the actions of our CAREGivers during the nationwide lockdown, who have been going the extra mile to help the community alongside their outstanding daily care for our clients. Lockdown has been a trying time for the whole nation, but particularly isolating for seniors. We take it as part of our responsibility as CAREGivers to do all we can to make these uncertain times more comfortable and enjoyable for all our clients, and to help the local community!
“The gifts to our CAREGivers are to say a big thank you for always going above and beyond in helping our community and providing support for our clients.
Ajay continued: “Excitingly, we have also brought a new care manager on board this month. Sarah totally lives and breathes Home Instead and the importance of ‘quality, quality, quality’. Sarah has also completed specialist training in various Healthcare at Home services which enables us to support people in their transition home from hospital at this difficult time. Everyone should have the choice to be treated at Home Instead of in hospital. Welcome to the team Sarah!”
