Free 1 hr on street Car Parking coming to an End?

We are aware that the HRA/Labour Coalition Council Administration are looking to stop the free 1 hr on street car parking within the borough as well as remove the 20% discount for users that use the RINGO App.

As published in the council forward plan, they are looking to remove the following:

  • The removal of the 20% discount in all Council Car Parks where payment is made via the cashless app;
  • The removal of the one hour free on-street parking at all Pay & Display locations borough wide;
  • To resume a charge of £1.50 for 0-1 hour parking at all on-street Pay & Display locations.

This will be devastating for the shops in Harold Wood and Harold Hill along with a number of other shopping areas in the borough especially now that residents in our community are suffering from the energy crisis, cost of living crisis and are still suffering from the aftermath of Covid.

The Harold Wood Councillors fought so hard to keep the 1 hr free parking in Harold Wood and Harold Hill and supported the free 1 hr free on street parking in other areas.

We think this is outrageous and is just not on and we shall not be supporting this decision at all.

Our message to the administration is simple – KEEP THE FREE ONE HOUR ON-STREET PARKING

  1. Probably will not be using Hilldene shopping centre so much in future, and £1.50 is an absolute disgrace for such a short time

  2. Typical, the country is on its knees, people choosing between eating and heating, shops and business closing due to higher energy bills and other rising costs, and all the council can think of is to screw more out of people. Makle the poor poorer is the only thing they seem to know this govermment and their cronies.

  3. It’s quite obvious this council wishes to close all towns, then support places like Lidl, Sainsbury and of course Lakeside. Typical council short sightedness, they can’t see or think too far into the future to see the damage these decisions make.

  4. If you only want a newspaper it is ridiculous to pay £1.50 to park when you use a car to go a mile to the shops at 80 years old.Even to get a bus there it is a half a mile walk to the stop. So I think that the first 20 mins should be free.
