Guildonian Players next show is running 14-17 June at The Little Theatre, The Drive, Harold Wood, RM3 0DU. 8pm nightly plus 2.30pm Saturdaymatinee.

It’s A Bunch of Amateurs by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman and readers may have seen the British comedy film in 2008 starring Burt Reynolds and Derek Jacobi.

Keen to boost his flagging career, a fading Hollywood action hero arrives in Stratford, England to play King Lear – only to find it is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village … and the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers. His monstrous ego and insecurity are tested to the limit as the comedy escalates and acting worlds collide – will our action hero discover his inner Lear? Come along and find out!
