Residents sometimes ask whether we support the extension of the ULEZ zone by the Mayor of London or whether we support the concept of pay per mile.
The answer to the above is that we do not support either scheme as we believe it is just a money making cash grab from TFL. It’s unacceptable to expect residents to have to change their vehicle or pay £12.50 a day to drive on our public roads nor should we be charged by pay per mile as we already pay our vehicle excise duty on our cars every year which is there to support maintenance of our road network.
There are a number of residents across Havering, other London Boroughs and neighbouring counties such as Essex that do not wish for these schemes to be implemented at all.
Residents know that this is not necessarily about the health issues of the public as it was the Government of the day that promoted the purchase of diesel vehicles many years ago and residents know that the The Mayor of London is using the ULEZ scheme to fill the coffers of TFL.
Harold Wood Councillors
Keep up the good work, to charge us extra to use roads we already pay road tax for is an absolute disgrace, and we in Havering and Essex have been told we have the cleanest air of all Counties in the country.
Well done to the Councillors who called for this meeting. Thank you????
Well done, keep up the good work
Well done to you all, and keep up your hard work..
It’s a joke even if we are charged £12.50 a day isn’t going to clean the air it’s going to be the same it’s not going to just disappear
